RULETC - Facilities
The Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center (RULETC) provides assistance and solutions to the Nation's rural and small criminal justice agencies. In an effort to meet the needs of the criminal justice community RULETC is making available their facilities for use by law enforcement, corrections, public safety, and governmental agencies, as well as the public. To reserve one of our facilities, please contact RULETC at 606-436-8848. Priority of use is law enforcement, corrections, public safety, and government agencies. There is no charge for use of the facility since RULETC is a service of the National Institute of Justice. RULETC hours are 8AM to 5PM (Eastern Time). Any scheduling outside of normal work hours must be previously approved by the RULETC Director or his designee.
MPR - Multi-Purpose Room - This room will accommodate 60-70 comfortably in a classroom setting. It will hold 150 in a very tight seating configuration. The room is fully equipped for video and audio presentations with a state of the art smart podium, computer with internet access, hand held and lavaliere microphones, VHS, DVD, over head projector, local TV cable access, SMART board, projector and drop down screen. The technical contact at RULETC is Kevin Vermillion who can be contacted at 606 436-8848. Use of the technical equipment must be coordinated with him prior to use. He may or may not be available on the day of your use of the facility. The MPR is adjacent to a full kitchen which is available for use. A large coffee pot is provided however coffee, creamer, sugar, etc are not. Vending machines with soft drinks, water, juices and snacks are located in the room. These machines are not the responsibility of RULETC and may or may not be stocked. RULETC does not provide a staff for set up or take down. Chairs and tables are provided but set up and take down are the responsibility of the user. Instructors are responsible for the cleanliness of the room. Tables and chairs should be clean from any items of trash which should be placed in the appropriate trash containers. General sweeping is done by the contract cleaner for the facility. Drinks and snacks are allowed at the tables in this room.
CL - Computer Lab - This room is a computer instructional room with one instructor system and twenty five student systems. Each system has internet access. The instructor has access to all presentation tools mentioned in the MPR with the exception of the podium and cable TV access. This room can be utilized as a general classroom however no food or drinks are allowed in the room due to the computer equipment. Instructors are again responsible for the cleanliness of the room and to advise the students that access to pornographic or web sites promoting illegal activity is strictly prohibited. Kevin Vermillion is also the technical contact for this room.
CR - Conference Room - This room will comfortably seat twenty people which includes a conference table for ten. The room has all the presentation tools mentioned in the MPR with the exception of cable TV access. It also has the capability of video conferencing. It should be noted that the conference room is adjacent to the administrative offices of RULETC where normal business is regularly conducted.
SIM - Firearms/Driving Simulators - RULETC houses two state of the art simulators for firearms and driver training. These units are available for use by law enforcement and public safety agencies. RULETC staff must operate the systems. Prior coordination and scheduling is essential due to the staffing requirement
