The Border Research and Technology Center (BRTC), operated by Sandia National Laboratories in technical partnership with the Navy SPAWAR System Center, San Diego, provides assistance to Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies and organizations operating along the U.S. borders. This assistance includes work with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, DHS research and technology programs, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy's Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center (CTAC) and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) partnerships.

BRTC provides analysis, testing, and evaluation of technologies for use by U.S. border law enforcement and correction agencies. Depending on the scope of the project, this assistance is often available at no cost.
